The Murray Morgan Bridge was built in 1913 in Tacoma, Washington. It is known for its remarkable deck height and is on the National Register of Historic Places and the State Heritage Register. Concerns of safety closed the bridge in 2007. It is undergoing an extensive rehabilitation and Portland Bolt was chosen to provide the unusually long rods and coupling nuts for this project. All product was required to be 100% domestic on this federally funded project. With an aggressive schedule using long galvanized F1554 grade 55 rods, Portland Bolt was chosen for our reliability of quality and shipping on time. We supplied over 75,000 pounds of 21⁄2” diameter galvanized F1554 grade 55 rods with nuts, coupling nuts, and sleeve nuts. The lengths varied from 130” to 240” long. Our partnership with steel mills allowed us to receive a special steel rolling in time to meet our schedule. Portland Bolt’s 140,000 square foot manufacturing and galvanizing facility is equipped with multiple overhead cranes. This allowed us to easily handle these rods weighing as much as 330 pounds each.
