Portland, OR
In the early part of 2020, Portland Bolt provided high strength A449 tie rod assemblies for the Gideon Overcrossing. This is a carless (pedestrian and bicycle) bridge over light rail and train tracks in SE Portland. Originally scheduled to be built in 2010, the project was delayed due to a lack of funding. With the construction of the bridge, it allowed residents to safely cross over an otherwise dangerous stretch of train tracks and link two neighborhoods together.
Portland Bolt was asked to provide high strength A449 tie rods to help act as cross bracing for the bridge to provide stabilization. The 1-1/4” diameter assemblies (with clevises and turnbuckles) were manufactured in our 140,000 sq. ft. facility. Each assembly was marked with an assembly number to help facilitate easy identification and erection in the field.
