Glide, OR, USA
Back in 2013, the Tioga Bridge outside of Glide, OR was completed. This bridge was designed to replace the “Young’s Bay bridge” that was destroyed by a flood in 1964. While the bridge was destroyed, the piers made it through the flood. The design, which started nearly 20 years prior to the bridge’s construction, included using the previous bridge’s piers to minimize the environmental impact. They were able to give access to “day hikes” back to the locals and visitors passing by.
In 2012, Portland Bolt supplied close to 1,000 A588 hex bolts and timber bolts. These bolts varied from ⅝” diameter, up to 1” diameter and ranged up to 15” in length. This project called for the A588 weathering steel to provide the bridge with corrosion resistant bolts, but still creating a natural look in this environment. The bolts have now created an outer rust layer to protect them from further corrosion.
We now have a plasma table capable of lasering plates of various shapes and sizes. These round plates are now within our capabilities. Our table can cut material up to 1-½” thick.
