Portland International Airport (PDX), Northeast Airport Way, Portland, OR, USA
Project Overview
For the past five years, the Portland International Airport has been undergoing a 1,000,000 sq. ft. expansion project unlike any other. The project doubles the size of PDX and will allow for a capacity of 35 million passengers annually by 2045. The largest feature of the project is a 9-acre mass timber roof, the largest project of its kind. All of the timber used for the roof was sourced within a 300-mile radius of the Portland Airport. The terminal aims to evoke the feeling of a Pacific Northwest forest with large trees, wood, and natural light flooding every space. The Portland airport is beloved by locals and travelers alike. The expansion has been much anticipated and truly offers travelers the best that the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
With the project being right in Portland Bolt’s backyard, it was an easy choice when it came to the fasteners on this expansion. The project required tight timelines which Portland Bolt was always up to the task on. There were also strict ASTM requirements that had to be met with the domestic requirements on the job. Portland Bolt is no stranger to domestic, federally funded jobs and provided full certifications with all of the materials to ensure all requirements were met. As Portlanders, we take great pride in the Portland Airport, and we were honored to play a small part in this beautiful terminal expansion.
