Portland Bolt was selected by a commercial specialty contractor to manufacture over 30 tie-rod assemblies. These assemblies provide a unique ambiance that connects the outdoors to the modern functionality of the Portland International Airport. These assemblies were manufactured in Portland Bolt’s 137,000 sq ft manufacturing facility located in historic Northwest Portland. The rods begin their journey through our shop as 20-foot bar stock which are first, cut to size. After the bars are cut to length, we chamfer the ends of the rods which eases the assembly of the tapped hardware. After our chamfering operation, the rods make it to our cut-threading station where we apply unified national coarse threads. Portland Bolt also possesses the ability to produce 8UN threads, which may be required for specific applications, but not this one. At this point, the rods are ready to undergo an inspection and assembly to guarantee the functional use of our parts. Although these assemblies now live indoors at the Portland International Airport, Portland Bolt & Manufacturing houses our very own hot-dip galvanizing line which gives our customers the option to benefit from a corrosion-resistant coating. Galvanized fasteners are normally preferred for applications exposed to the weather. Our galvanizing line is designed specifically for threaded fasteners, so our customers won’t be dealing with excess zinc embedded in the threads of our fasteners.

Portland Bolt having all these operations within our four walls allows us to maintain our commitment to quality in addition to on-time delivery.
