Billings, MT, US
The Billings, MT refinery, boasting a daily processing capacity of 63,000 barrels (bpd), is a sophisticated and high-conversion facility. It specializes in the refining of cost-effective Western Canadian and Rocky Mountain crude oils from the local region.
This network has several assets to note, including the 70-mile Silvertip Pipeline, which is wholly owned and can handle 55,000 bpd. There’s also a 40% ownership in the Yellowstone refined products pipeline, stretching 750 miles and supporting 65,000 bpd. The network has four wholly owned and three joint venture refined product terminals located in Montana and Washington. Altogether, the total storage capacity across the refinery and logistics sites amounts to 4.1 million barrels.
Furthermore, as part of the arrangement with ExxonMobil, Par Pacific will provide fuel to roughly 250 retail locations under the Exxon and Mobil brands.
This acquisition of the Billings facility represents a significant step in strengthening Par Pacific’s market presence in the Pacific Northwest. The company is also actively exploring opportunities in renewable fuels to complement the conventional fuel production at the Billings refinery and leverage its existing foothold in the Washington market, all intending to reduce the carbon footprint of its fuel sales, aligning with the recently implemented low-carbon fuel standard in Washington.
