Edmonton, AB, Canada
In the fall of 2016 the Edmonton Rogers Community Arena finally was opened in time for hockey season. The new home ice for the MacEwan Griffins hockey team was christened with a game followed by a free public skate the next day. The rink, which is located next to the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers Rogers Place, will also be the team’s new practice facility.
Portland Bolt was called up to provide the ice rink’s 34 tie rod assemblies that ranged from 11 to 36 feet long. These 1-1/2” diameter F1554 Grade 55 assemblies included #5 clevises with 2-1/4” pins. The 6,700 pounds of tie rods took us 3 weeks to manufacture and assemble to ensure proper threading and fit. This extra service we provide helps safeguard from having hardware on the jobsite not fitting and being held up waiting for a fix. Projects like this demonstrate our ability to be a competitive source for large, nonstandard construction fasteners for projects in Canada.
